FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TOURS

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 60 AND 155-METRE LEVELS?

At the 60-metre level, you go downstairs (both concrete and spiral) all the way and take a lift up. At the 155-metre level, you take a lift both down and up and the level is relatively flat with no stairs at all.

The guide’s story also differs as the mine has a lot of history to show and tell.

WHICH TOUR IS BEST SUITED for US?

The Guided Tour is perfect for those who want to explore the mine alongside a guide throughout the visit. The Self-Guided Tour suits those who prefer to experience the mine at their own pace, meet miners along the way who share stories about life and labor underground, try out some tasks, complete missions, and feel the weight of the heavy silver ore. The Grand Mine Tour is ideal for those who wish to experience a longer journey and see more of the mine. All tours descend to the mine’s 60-meter level via stairs.

WHAT ARE THE AGE LIMITS/AGE RECOMMENDATIONS?

The age limits are tailored to each individual tour to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all our guests. You can find the age restrictions in the information section for each specific tour. Regardless of age, all children must be able to walk on their own in the mine’s staircases. Carrying children in your arms, in a baby carrier, or in a backpack is not permitted due to safety reasons.

BOOKING AND TICKETING ISSUES

HOW DO I BOOK A TOUR?

Tickets are booked through our website and paid for at the time of purchase via our partner, Swedbank Pay. If you have a gift certificate, free ticket, or similar, please contact customer service for assistance with booking. For vouchers, simply use the code directly on our website during the booking process. If you encounter any issues or have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to customer service for support.

What different types of entrance tickets are available?

There are two different types of tickets: an entrance ticket including a mine visit and an entrance ticket for the exhibitions. When you purchase an entrance ticket that includes a mine visit, it means that your ticket grants you a visit inside the mine along with access to all the exhibitions. If you only want to visit the exhibitions above ground you can easily buy an entrance ticket for it on-site using Swish or cash. The amount you pay for admission is up to you. This ticket grants you access to all exhibitions in the area for a full day.

WHY IS THE PRICE DIFFERENT FOR WHAT YOU CALL OPEN VERSUS PRIVATE DEPARTURE?

On an open tour, you pay for an individual ticket and become part of a larger group. A so-called private tour means that you book the guide separately for you and your party, up to 10 people. An additional price can be paid if there are more than 10 people.

CAN TICKETS BE BOUGHT ON-SITE?

During our high season, from midsummer until the start of the school year, tickets can be purchased directly from our on-site staff. At other times of the year, tickets are available exclusively through our website, salasilvergruva.se.

HOW DO I GET MY TICKET?

Once you have booked and paid for your ticket, it will be sent to you as a text message, along with a confirmation email containing a link to your specified email address. (Please ensure that the email address and phone number you provide are correct.) You can always access and manage your booking through “My Page,” available on our website at salasilvergruva.se, via the email confirmation, or through the link included in your SMS ticket.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM LATE FOR MY TOUR?

The tour starts promptly, and unfortunately, we cannot delay the departure. We recommend planning your trip well in advance to allow extra time for potential traffic delays or other unexpected obstacles.

CAN I TAKE MY INFANT DOWN THE MINE?

To ensure a safe and secure experience for all our guests, infants are not permitted on our tours.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE GET SICK CLOSE TO OUR VISIT?

If your departure is less than 24 hours away, the reservation is binding and cannot be changed or canceled. However, you may transfer your ticket to a friend or family member to attend in your place. If your departure is more than 24 hours away, you can add, change, cancel, or rebook your reservation via “My Page,” accessible through the website salasilvergruva.se, your email confirmation, or the link on your SMS ticket.

Remember that you should not leave your dog alone in the car when it is hot outside. Our car park is completely open and sunny. At Sala Silvergruva’s hostel Marketenteriet, we have some rooms where pets are allowed, state when booking that you wish to stay with pets and we will ensure that such a room is booked.

Accessibility, attendant

WHICH DISABILITIES DO YOU HAVE ADAPTATIONS FOR AND HOW?

We are constantly working to improve accessibility for individuals with different functional variations in our buildings, mining environment, and natural areas.

We have two accessible toilets on the premises – one in Konstmästargården and one in Skrädhuset.

Konstmästargården, our restaurant and conference venue: There is a wheelchair-accessible ramp to enter the building, as well as a spacious toilet on the ground floor. There are only stairs to access the upper floors.

Direktörsbostaden, our conference and meeting venue: There is a wheelchair-accessible ramp to enter the building. There are thresholds and some narrow doorways inside the building. There are smaller, non-accessible toilets.

Skrädhuset, our museum: There is an elevator that allows access to the second floor of the museum, as well as a spacious toilet on the ground floor.

What about accompanying attendants?

If you have a valid companion ticket, you can enter free of charge together with the person for whom the ticket is valid. Contact customer service and they will help you book your tickets.
